Kin extends run by two weeks

Playwrights Horizons has announced a two week extension of the World Premiere of Kin, a new play by Bathsheba Doran, which will now play through to 17 Apr 2011. The additional two weeks is the the only extension possible for the production

Kin opened at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage on 21 Mar 2011, following previews from 25 Feb, and was originally set to play a limited engagement through to to 3 Apr 2011.

The play opened to mostly excellent reviews: An unexpected pleasure (newyorktheatreguide); Finest new play of the season (NY Times); Simultaneously funny and moving (Back Stage); Slick but utterly trivial dramedy (Variety).

Directed by Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Annie Baker's 'Circle Mirror Transformation' at Playwrights Horizons and 'The Aliens' at Rattlestick), the cast features Suzanne Bertish, Bill Buell, Kristen Elizabeth Bush, Patch Darragh, Kit FlanaganLaura Heisler, Matthew Rauch, Cotter Smith and Molly Ward.

In Kin, 'Anna,' a Texan Ivy League poetry scholar, and 'Sean,' an Irish personal trainer, hardly seem destined for one another. But as their web of disparate family and friends crosses great distances - both psychologically and geographically - an unlikely new family is forged.

The creative team features set design by Paul Steinberg, costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Jane Cox and sound design by Matt Tierney.
