Jane Lynch, Ramin Karimloo, Jared Grimes join 'Funny Girl' Broadway cast

The production also confirmed an opening date of April 24, 2022.

They're the greatest stars! Jane Lynch, Ramin Karimloo, and Jared Grimes will join the principal cast of Funny Girl alongside the previously announced Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice. Funny Girl performances will begin March 26, 2022 ahead of an April 24 opening night at the August Wilson Theatre.

Karimloo will play the leading male role of Nick Arnstein. Karimloo is known for his Tony Award-nominated role as Jean Valjean in the 2013 Broadway revival of Les Misérables, in addition to roles in Anastasia on Broadway, The Phantom of the Opera in London, and the television drama series Holby City.

Lynch, who will play Fanny's mother, Rosie Brice, last appeared on Broadway as Miss Hannigan in the 2014 revival of Annie. She is an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner known for her role as Sue Sylvester on Glee, and she currently co-stars in the television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Grimes will play the role of Eddie Ryan. He was last on Broadway in the 2019 revival of A Soldier's Play, which won the Tony Award for Best Revival at the 2020 ceremony. Grimes has appeared in New York as a lead in the Radio City Spring Spectacular, in After Midnight on Broadway, and in the Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at New York City Center.

The 2022 production of Funny Girl is the musical's first Broadway revival since premiering in 1964. The show follows Fanny Brice, a Ziegfeld Follies star, and her rise to fame together with her tumultuous romance with gambler Nick Arnstein.
