Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris: Often referred to as the Bob Dylan of France, Jacques Brel wrote songs about people actively questioning their own values as well as the rising tide of conservatism around them. The show is a blend of ballads, tangos, boleros, rock and classics. Each piece tells a story, examining themes of love, war, adventure, broken dreams, people from all classes, being young, growing old and death, but always remembering life has much humor in it.
Directed by Gordon Greenberg, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris currently features two of the original four cast members Gay Marshall and Robert Cuccioli as well as recent additions Constantine Maroulis and Jayne Paterson.
The production has set design by Rob Bissinger, choreography by Mark Dendy, lighting by Jeff Croiter and sound by Peter Fitzgerald .
The original show opened in 1968 at The Village Gate in Greenwich Village and ran for more than four years.
