According to the New York Post, an industry workshop was held yesterday by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell for a new musical under the working title The British Invasion Musical, which is based on the influx of British pop and rock groups in the 1960s, who came, saw and conquered America.

Tony winner Christian Borle took on the role of Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits at the workshop.

The British Invasion Musical features a book by Rick Elice, who recently lost his husband Roger Rees to cancer, and also features some of Herman's Hermits' songs, including "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" and "I'm Henry VIII, I Am," as well as a host of other popular classics from the British Invasion era.

Producer Hal Luftig also revealed that some of the scenes are to take place at London's The Bag O'Nails pub, which he describes as "sort of like the Brill Building of the London music scene... [Mick] Jagger and Marianne Faithfull were there, The Beatles were there. They were considered renegades at the time, the anti-establishment. But then they came to America and quickly became the establishment."

Other top 'British Invasion' acts included The Beatles, The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks, The Who, and The Rolling Stones.

No official casting, dates or a theatre have been confirmed yet.
