It has been reported that the current West End smash hit The Ferryman, written by Jez Butterworth and directed by Sam Mendes, is hoping for a fall 2018 Broadway transfer, if negotiations are successful.

The Ferryman played a sold-out world premiere engagement at London's Royal Court Theatre from April 24 to May 20, 2017. After breaking box office records and opening to 5-star reviews, a West End transfer to the Gielgud Theatre was announced. Initially intended as a 16-week limited run from June 20 to October 7, 2017, it was then extended due to popular demand through to January 6, 2018.

No details have been announced in terms of casting for a potential Broadway transfer, but the London cast includes actor, film-maker, and musician Paddy Considine, who makes his stage debut in the lead role of Quinn, a reformed IRA activist. His previous film credits include "24 Hour Party People" (2002), "Hot Fuzz" (2007), "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007), "The World's End" (2013) and "Macbeth" (2015).

Considine is joined by "Star Wars" actress Genevieve O'Reilly and Laura Donnelly, who previously appeared in Jez Butterworth's play The River at the Royal Court and subsequently on Broadway at the Circle in the Square alongside Hugh Jackman.
