Musicals Tonight presents Irma la Douce, at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre from 14 - 26 Oct 2008.

Irma la Douce: A Paris 'poule' (Irma) works to support her impoverished lover (Nestor) against his wishes. He poses as a rich elderly rou� and becomes her exclusive client. The double life is too demanding so he 'eliminates' the old gent and is arrested.

Directed by Thomas Sabella-Mills, Irma la Douce features John Coghlan (Bob), Damian Buzzerio (Inspector), Justin Sayre (Polyte), Eric Imhoff (Jojo), Kevin Sims (Roberto), James Donegan (Persil), Selby Brown (Frangipane), Vanessa Lemonides (Irma) and Wade Mccollum.

Irma la Douce has music by Marguerite Monnot; original lyrics by Alexandre Breffort; original book by Alexandre Breffort; english lyrics by Julian More, David Heneker and Monty Norman; english book by Julian More, David Heneker and Monty Norman.

The musical played on Broadway in 1960 and won the 1961 Tony Award for Best Musical. The production was directed by Peter Brook and starred Elizabeth Seal as 'Irma' and Keith Michell as 'Nestor.'
