Irish Rep announces extension for Finian's Rainbow

The Irish Rep has announced an extension for the limited engagement of Finian's Rainbow, adapted and directed by Charlotte Moore, which began previews on 26 October 2016 and officially opened on 6 November. The final performance will now take place on 29 January 2017 (instead of 18 December 2016).

Finian's Rainbow features music by Burton Lane, lyrics by Yip Harburg & a book by Fred Said.

Synopsis: "The 1947 musical follows an Irishman who steals a feisty leprechaun's pot of gold and escapes with his daughter, Sharon, to Missitucky, a mythical region in the United States that is part of the Jim Crow South. The daughter and the sprite each find romance with others, but also encounter bigotry, economic disparity and cultural injustice."

The cast of Finian's Rainbow includes (in alphabetical order) William Bellamy (Gospeleer), Kimberly Doreen Burns (Lilly Mae), Dewey Caddell (Senator), Peyton Crim (Sheriff), Tony nominee Melissa Errico (Sharon), Mark Evans (Og), Matt Gibson (Buzz Collins), Angela Grovey (Sallyann), Ken Jennings (Finian), Ramone Owens (Gospeleer), Kyle Taylor Parker (Gospeleer), Ryan Silverman (Woody) and Lyrica Woodruff (Susan the Silent).

The creative team behind Finian's Rainbow features choreography by Barry McNabb, scenic design by James Morgan, costume design by David Toser, lighting design by Mary Jo Dondlinger, music supervision by John Bell and dialect coaching by Stephen Gabis.
