Indecent will officially open at Broadway's Cort Theatre

The previously announced Broadway transfer of the Vineyard Theatre's production of Indecent has now named its theatre. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel and co-created and directed by Rebecca Taichman, the play with music will officially open at at the Cort Theatre on 18 April 2017. Previews will begin in early April 2017.

The production marks the Broadway debut for playwright Paula Vogel, who won a Pulitzer Prize for 'How I Learned to Drive' in 1998.

Synopsis: "Indecent is inspired by the true events surrounding the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch's 'God of Vengeance,' a play seen by some as a seminal work of Jewish culture, and by others as an act of traitorous libel. Indecent charts the history of an incendiary drama and the artists who risked their careers and lives to perform it."

Casting for the Broadway production will be announced at a later date, however, the off-Broadway cast included Katrina Lenk, Mimi Lieber, Max Gordon Moore, Tom Nelis, Steven Rattazzi, Richard Topol and Adina Verson.

The play features music composed and directed by Lisa Gutkin & Aaron Halva, along with choreography by David Dorfman. The creative team also features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Chris Akerlind, sound design by Matt Hubbs and projection design by Tal Yarden.

Indecent is produced on Broadway by Daryl Roth, Elizabeth Ireland McCann and Cody Lassen, in association with La Jolla Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre.

The off-Broadway staging began previews on 27 April 2016, before an official opening on 17 May and a limited engagement through to 5 June 2016 at the Vineyard Theatre.
