In The Next Room: Sarah Ruhl's comedy to star Laura Benanti and Michael Cerveris

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Laura Benanti, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Michael Cerveris, Maria Dizzia, Thomas Jay Ryan, Wendy Rich Stetson and Chandler Williams will be featured in its upcoming production of In The Next Room or the vibrator play, a new play by Sarah Ruhl, to be directed by Les Waters.

Due to the ongoing run of LCT�s award-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein�s 'South Pacific,' directed by Bartlett Sher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, In The Next Room will be presented on Broadway at the Lyceum Theater, opening on 19 Nov 2009, following previews from 22 Oct and playing through to 10 Jan 2010.

In The Next Room is a comedy about marriage, intimacy and electricity which had its world premiere last month at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Set at the dawn of the age of electricity; In The Next Room centers on a doctor and his wife and how his experimental therapy affects their entire household.

The production will have sets by Annie Smart, costumes by David Zinn, lighting by Russell Champa, sound by Bray Poor and original music by Jonathan Bell.

Sarah Ruhl (playwright) is making her Broadway debut with the production. She made her New York debut at the Lincoln Center Theater with her play 'The Clean House.' Her other plays include 'Dead Man�s Cell Phone,' 'Demeter in the City,' 'Eurydice,' 'Late: a cowboy song,' 'Melancholy Play,' 'Orlando' and 'Passion Play: a cycle.' Her work has also been produced in New York at Playwrights Horizons and the Second Stage and nationally at many theaters including the Goodman, Yale Rep and the Woolly Mammoth Theaters.

Les Waters (Director), an Obie Award winning director, is making his Broadway debut. He is the associate artistic director of Berkeley Rep. His New York credits include productions at BAM. the Manhattan Theatre Club, CSC, Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theater, Second Stage Theater and Signature Theatre Company.

Laura Benanti won a Tony Award for her portrayal of 'Louise' in the recent revival of 'Gypsy' and was nominated for Tony Awards for 'Into the Woods' and 'Swing!'. Other Broadway credits include: 'The Wedding Singer,' 'Nine' and 'The Sound of Music.'.

Quincy Tyler Bernstine is making her Broadway debut. Her Off-Broadway credits include: 'Ruined' (MTC), 'The Misanthrope' (NY Theatre Workshop) as well as productions with the LAByrinth Theatre Company, Roundabout Theatre, The Public.

Michael Cerveris won a Tony Award for his ortrayal of '[John Wilkes Booth' in 'Assassins' and he has been nominated for Tony's for his appearances in 'Lovemusik,' 'Sweeney Todd' and 'The Who's Tommy.' Other Broadway credits include: 'Hedda Gabler' and 'Titanic.' LA).

Maria Dizzia is making her Broadway debut. Her Off-BRoadway credits are 'The Drunken City' (Playwrights), 'The Wooden Breeks' (MCC), Eurydice (Second Stage/Berkeley Rep/Yale) and 'Apparition' (Connelly Theater). She starred in Sarah Ruhl�s In The Next Room when it played its world premiere at the Berkely Rep in early 2009.

Thomas Jay Ryan is making his Broadway debut. His Off-Broadway credits are 'The Tempermentals,' 'The Misanthrope,' 'This Thing of Darkness,' 'Juno,' 'Christmas at the Ivanovs' and'Venus.'

Wendy Rich Stetson is making her Broadway debut. Her Off-Broadway credits include 'Big Bill' (Lincoln Center), 'Hamlet' (public) and 'Cymbeline' (NYSF).

Chandler Williams is currently appearing on Broadway in 'Mary Stuart.' He made his Broadway debut as 'Lieutenant Yolland' in 'Translations.'
