Humor Abuse, MTC to present Lorenzo Pisoni's one-man-show
The Manhattan Theatre Club is to present the world premiere of Humor Abuse, written and performed by Lorenzo Pisoni, and directed by Erica Schmidt, opening at Manhattan Theatre Club - Stage II at NY City Center on 10 Mar 2009, following previews from 19 Feb 2009.
Humor Abuse is the story of Pisonis upbringing as the youngest member of the Pickle Family Circus, the Bay Areas tiny big top that entertained thousands of people worldwide and launched the careers of several legendary performers. Filled with the clowning that Pisoni learned at his fathers knee, and the wonder, heartache and complexity of stepping into (and out of) his fathers shoes, Humor Abuse shows that running away with the circus isnt always all fun and games.
The creative team for Humor Abuse will be announced shortly.
Lorenzo Pisonis is currently performing in the Broadway revival of Equus. He made his Broadway debut in 'Henry IV' (John of Lancaster: 2003 revival). He was nominated for the 2008 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Featured Actor for his performance as 'Clark' in 'Election Day' (Second Stage).
Erica Schmidt (Director) off-Broadway credits include 'People Be Heard' (Playwrights Horizons), 'As You Like It' (Public) and 'Debbie Does Dallas' (Jane Street Theatre).
