How I Learned What I Learned extends for a second time
Signature Theatre have announceed a second one-week extention of their New York premiere production of August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned. The show will now run through to 29 Dec 2013.
How I Learned What I Learned, which began previews on 05 Nov 2013, opens at the Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre on 24 Nov 2013. The production was originally scheduled to close on 15 Dec 2013.
In this solo show, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson shares stories about his first few jobs, a stint in jail, an early relationship, his first kiss, his foray into cinema, and the friends he has had his entire life.
Directed by long-time collaboratorTodd Kreidler and featuring Ruben Santiago-Hudson, director of the acclaimed Signature Theatre production of The Piano Lesson, How I Learned What I Learned charts one man's journey of self-discovery through adversity, and what it means to be a black artist in America.
Ruben Santiago-Hudson won th 1996 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role as 'Canewell' in August wilson's 'Seven Guitars.' His other Broaday credits include 'Stick Fly,' 'Gem of the Ocean' and 'Jelly's Last Jam.' His TV work includes "Low Winter Sun," "Castle," "Law & Order," and "Michael Hayes," amongst others.
The design team for How I Learned What I Learned includes David Gallo (Scenic and Projection Design), Constanza Romero (Costume Design), Thom Weaver (Lighting Design) and Dan Moses Schreier (Sound Design).
