According to a casting notice, a new musical under the title Hef will be workshopped this August, with industry performances to take place from 28 to 30 August 2015.

The musical, which is reportedly based on the life of Hugh Hefner during the 1950's, 60's and 70's, was conceived by Bethany Christine Elkin and features music and lyrics by Justin S. Fischer and a book by Elkin and Jaime Donegan. Ms. Elkin also serves as director and choreographer.

According to Elkin, the plot revolves around the creation of Playboy in Chicago and centres on the lives of Hugh Hefner and also his secretary Bobbie Arnstein, who committed suicide in 1975 after pressure from the FBI, who wanted her to slander Hefner for drug-related offenses. The allegations were never proved.

The first-ever Playboy magazine was published in December 1953 and famously featured Marilyn Monroe on the cover.

There is no official word on casting or dates yet for Hef.
