Hamlet at Theater 5
Theater by the Blind presents Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, at Theater 5 from the 21 May - 11 Jun 2006.
Hamlet: A prince receives a charge to avenge his father's murder and wonders if he really saw a ghost or unjustly suspects his uncle.
The cast for Hamlet, directed by Ike Schambelan, features George Ashiotis, Melanie Boland, Nick Cordileone, John Little, Pamela Sabaugh and Nicholas Viselli.
Hamlet has set design by Merope Vachlioti, costumes by Christine Field and lighting by Bert Scott.
There will be an open captioned performance on the 21 May. Braille & large print programs available. Vision-impaired patrons may tour the set 45 minutes before curtain.
Theater By The Blind is a critically acclaimed company made up of both visually impaired and sighted theatre professionals. Founded in 1979 by Artistic Director Ike Schambelan, the company's mission is to change the image of the blind from one of dependence to independence, to fight the stereotypes and misperceptions associated with blindness, and to show how vibrant, fluid and exuberant the visually impaired can be.
