Beginning January 2023, Hamilton will also implement a new performance schedule, replacing its Wednesday matinees with Sunday evening performances.
Hamilton became an instant phenomenon upon its Broadway premiere in 2015. The show centers on Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, who immigrated from the Caribbean, founded America's financial system as we know it, and eventually met his end in a duel with rival (and former friend) Aaron Burr. Hamilton's story is performed by a diverse cast and told with hip-hop and rap music, giving a contemporary update to history.
In 2016, the show won 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, along with the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a Grammy Award. Hamilton continues to attract thousands of theatregoers to the Richard Rodgers Theatre each week.
