Fun Home on Broadway announces casting

Producers Fox Theatricals and Barbara Whitman have today announced casting for the upcoming Broadway transfer of Fun Home which will open at the Circle in the Square Theatre on 19 April 2015, following previews from 27 March 2015.

Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris and three time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn will both reprise their roles from the Public Theater's successful off-Broadway run, playing Bruce Bechdel and Helen Bechdel respectively.

They will be joined by Beth Malone as Alison, Sydney Lucas as Small Alison and Emily Skeggs as Medium Alison, alongside Joel Perez, Roberta Colindrez, Zell Morrow and Oscar Williams, who will also reprise their roles on Broadway.

Fun Home features music by four-time Tony Award nominee Jeanine Tesori, with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron and direction by Sam Gold.

The musical originally opened at The Public Theater in October 2013, and was extended four times due to popular demand. It was named Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, and received the OBIE, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle and Off Broadway Alliance Awards in the 2013-2014 season. It was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Fun Home is based on Alison Bechdel's best-selling graphic memoir. Rummaging through a box of her father's stuff, the memories of Alison's uniquely dysfunctional family - her mother, brothers, and her volatile, brilliant, enigmatic father - connect with her in surprising, powerful and revealing new ways.

The creative team includes Danny Mefford (Choreography), David Zinn (Set and Costume Design), Ben Stanton (Lighting Design), Kai Harada (Sound Design) and Chris Fenwick (Music Direction).

Tickets for the Broadway run are now on general sale, and the show is booking until 13 September 2015.
