Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting to join Emmy and Tony winner David Hyde Pierce in the world premiere of Obie Award winner Adam Bock's new play A Life, directed by two-time Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman. Previews begin at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 30 September 2016, before an official opening on 24 October, and a limited engagement through to 13 November 2016.

Joining David Hyde Pierce (Nate Martin) will be Cindy Cheung (Medical Examiner/Mortician), Brad Heberlee (Curtis), Nedra McClyde (Assistant/Ellen), and Lynne McCollough (Nate's Sister/Other Medical Examiner).

Synopsis: "Nate Martin is hopelessly single. When his most recent breakup, another in a lifelong string of ill-fated matches, casts him into a funk, he turns to the only source of wisdom he trusts: the stars. Poring over astrological charts, he obsessively questions his past and his place in the cosmos. But the answer he receives, when it comes, is shockingly obvious - and totally unpredictable."

The creative team behind A Life has also been announced and features scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Matt Frey and sound design by Mikhail Fiksel.

David Hyde Pierce won a Tony Award in 2007 for his performance in 'Curtains,' and received a Tony nomination in 2013 for 'Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.' His other Broadway credits include 'La Bête,' 'Accent on Youth,' Monty Python's 'Spamalot,' 'The Heidi Chronicles,' and 'Beyond Therapy.' He also directed the 2015 Broadway premiere of 'It Shoulda Been You,' and will star alongside Bette Midler next year in 'Hello, Dolly!' on the Great White Way. He is perhaps best known for his four-time Emmy Award-winning TV role as Dr. Niles Crane on "Frasier."
