Complete casting for the world premiere of Coal Country to be performed at the Public Theater's Anspacher Theater has now been announced. Coal Country will begin previews on February 18, 2020, ahead of an official opening night on March 3, and will run through March 29, 2020.

The cast of Coal Country will include Mary Bacon (as Patti), Amelia Campbell (as Mindy), Michael Gaston (as Stanley "Goose"), Ezra Knight (as Roosevelt), Thomas Kopache (as Gary), Michael Laurence (as Tommy), Deirdre Madigan (as Judy), and Melinda Tanner (as Judge).

Coal Country will be performed as part of the Public Theater's 2019-2020 Off-Broadway season, which also includes The Vagrant Trilogy, The Visitor, and Cullud Wattah.

Synopsis: "In 2010, the Upper Big Branch mine explosion killed 29 men, and tore a hole in the lives of countless others. In this riveting, emotionally stunning new work based on first-person accounts by survivors and family members, Coal Country digs deep into the lives and loss of the most deadly mining disaster in recent U.S. history. This haunting world premiere gives voice to those yet unheard and shines a piercing light on the deadly forces of greed and the enduring power of love."

Coal Country is written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, with original music by Steve Earle and directed by Ms. Blank. Scenic design is by Richard Hoover, costume design by Jessica Jahn, lighting design by David Lander, and sound design by Darron L West.
