'Four One-Legged Men!' at The Producers Club / Grand Theatre

Four One-Legged Men!, written and performed by Gary Corbin and directed by William Martin, opens at The Producers Club / Grand Theatre on the 7 Oct 2005, following previews from the 5 Oct and running through to the 23 Oct 2005.

Four One-Legged Men! consists of four vignettes that depict four distinct amputees from different backgrounds, seasons and eras:

  • A Day In The Life Of Jamie Prince - a writer who visits his dying foster grandparent who is in a nursing home in the Winter of 2005;
  • Rainbow - a father in a visitation rights battle in the Spring of 1959;
  • I'll Betcha That! - a gay male on his way to a Fourth of July party in the Summer of 1990, but falls and breaks his artificial leg;
  • Waiting for Oz - a delusional Vietnam veteran on a psyche ward after returning from the battlefield in the Fall of 1969. The final vignette is performed without an artificial leg.

A 30-year cancer survivor, Gary Corbin, an above knee amputee, is one of the country's most active physically challenged performers. A member of the award-winning 'Mad Hatters' theatre company, he has toured the country as a performer & writer, working with the Negro Ensemble Company & the Baltimore Playwright's Festival, among others. He is also the recipient of playwriting awards from The Maryland State Arts Council & The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
