Fifty Words: Norbert Leo Butz is to star opposite Elizabeth Marvel
MCC Theater has announced that Tony Award-winner Norbert Leo Butz (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) is to star opposite the previously announced Elizabeth Marvel in the World Premiere Production of Michael Wellers Fifty Words, under the direction of Austin Pendleton.
Butz returns to the stage following his performance in last seasons Broadway production of the new Mark Twain play 'Is He Dead?' (2007), and he received a Tony Award for his portrayal of 'Freddy' in the musical 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' (2005).
The two-character play opens at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on 28 Sep 2008, following previews from 10 sep 2008, and running through to 28 September 2008.
In Fifty Words, somethings gone awry behind the idyllic faade of Jan and Adams Brooklyn brownstone. At 9:10 p.m., theyre reveling in the freedom of having waved off their young son, Greg, to a neighborhood sleepover. By 9:30 p.m., things have gone, wellway past awry. Alternately funny and frightening, Fifty Words is an expansive look at modern marriage, as seen through the looking glass of one couples long nights journey into day.
