Fat Pig: Heather Jane Rolff to play Helen

Heather Jane Rolff will make her Broadway play debut in the pivotal role of 'Helen,' alongside the previously announced comedian and actor Dane Cook, stage, film and television actor Josh Hamilton and stage and screen star Julia Stiles this spring, completing the cast for the Broadway premiere of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig.

LaBute will make his Broadway directorial debut with the play, which opens at the Belasco Theatre on 26 Apr 2011, following previews from 12 Apr 2011.

Playwright-director Neil LaBute said, "It's really wonderful to have a great actress like Julia Stiles join this company, along with our discovery of a terrific new romantic-comedienne in Heather Jane Rolff. Both women will be the perfect addition to an already fantastic cast. I couldn't be happier."

Heather Jane Rolff comes to Fat Pig from the national tour of 'Les Miserables'. She was previously on Broadway as part of the original cast of 'Shrek the Musical.' She's performed off-Broadway in 'Wanda's World,' at the Sacramento Music Circus in Oklahoma!, and provided voice to several shows on the Cartoon Network.

LaBute's comedy, Fat Pig, tells the story of Tom (Hamilton), a very eligible bachelor who falls for the beautiful, bright and plus-sized Helen (Rolff). Tom is overjoyed with his new relationship but his shallow co-workers are less enthusiastic. Tom shrugs off their objections but eventually the cruel jabs of his acerbic friend Carter (Cook) and Jeannie (Stiles), a former flame, force him to question his own values and the importance of conventional good looks.

The design team for Fat Pig will include scenic designer Neil Patel (Wonderland, 'Night Mother) and lighting designer David Weiner (Reasons To Be Pretty, The Real Thing). Additional design team members, playing schedule, and ticket information will be announced shortly.

The play had its world premiere at MCC Theater in 2004, where it won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play. It has enjoyed several successful productions in major cities including Los Angeles, Boston and London's West End.
