'Dr Sex' at the Peter Norton Space

Dr Sex, a musical comedy about Dr. Alfred Kinsey, opens at the Peter Norton Space on the 15 Sep 2005 (Update: Now opens on the 20 Sep), following previews from the 26 Aug 2005 and running through to the 30 Oct 2005.

Set in the 1930s and 40s in Bloomington, Indiana, Dr Sex explores the loving relationship between Dr. Alfred Kinsey, his wife, Clara...and their handsome boyfriend (and lab assistant), Wally Matthews. When Professor Kinsey, tired of cataloguing American gall wasps, discovers his lifes work in human sexual research, Bloomington becomes a hotbed of science and sex. Fun, sweet and outrageously screwball, with toe-tapping music and memorable lyrics, Dr. Sex is the new musical comedy for anyone whos ever had (or thought about having) you-know-what.

Dr Sex has a score by Larry Bortniker, with book by Larry Bortniker and Sally Deering.

The cast for the musical, directed by Pamela Hunt, is headed by Brian Noonan in the title role of Dr. Alfred Kinsey. Jennifer Simard plays his devoted wife, Clara Kinsey, whilst Christopher Corts plays Wally, their boyfriend. Also featured in the cast are Jared Bradshaw, Linda Cameron, David Edwards, Christy Faber, Colleen Hawks, and Benjie Randall.

Dr Sex has choreography by Mark Esposito, set design by Rob Bissinger, costume design by John Carver Sullivan, and lighting design by Mary Jo Dondlinger.

Dr Sex was developed at Lehman Engel/BMI workshop; Stages 2002, Theater Building Chicago; and the ASCAP at Disney Workshop; it subsequently had its world premiere at the Bailiwick Theatre, in Chicago.
