Dividing the Estate plays final performance on Broadway



The Broadway premiere of Horton Foote�s new play, Dividing the Estate, plays its final performance on 4 Jan 2009 as scheduled.

The comic-drama opened at The Booth Theatre on 20 Nov 2008, following previews from 23 Oct 2008.

The play opened to mostly to excellent reviews: "Tart and delicious �Dividing the Estate,� is heaven to be with." (NY Times); "Goes for laughs and succeeds, and at the same time comments on more sweeping notions of avarice, entitlement and carpetbagging karma." (NY Daily News); "This deeply humanistic and funny play is old-fashioned in the best sense." (NY Post); "The theatrical equivalent of a page-turner." (Bloomberg); "Nuanced and compelling." Dividing the Estate, a human comedy about a family that must confront its past as it prepares for its future, was presented off-Broadway by Primary Stages at 59E59's Theater A from 18 Sep - 28 Oct 2007.

Directed by Michael Wilson, Dividing the Estate features Elizabeth Ashley (Stella), Arthur French (Doug), Hallie Foote (Mary Jo), Penny Fuller (Lucille), Gerald McRaney (Lewis), Devon Abner (son), Pat Bowie (Mildred), James DeMarse (Bob), Virginia Kull (Irene), Maggie Lacey (Pauline), Nicole Lowrance (Sissie), Jenny Dare Paulin (Emily) and Keiana Richard (Cathleen).

The creative team for Dividing the Estate comprises sets by Jeff Cowie, costumes by David C. Woolard, lighting by Rui Rita and sound by John Gromada.

The production is produced on Broadway by The Lincoln Center Theater, in arrangement with Primary Stages.
