Distracted: Rick Holmes assumes the role of 'Dad'


Rick Holmes assumes the role of 'Dad' on 7 Apr 2009 in the Roundabout Theatre Company's New York premiere production of Distracted, by Lisa Loomer, directed by Mark Brokaw.

Holmes last appeared off-Broadway in 'Stop Kiss' (public Theatre). His Broadway credits include 'The Pillowman' (2005); 'Spamalot' (2005), 'Major Barbara' (2001).

Holmes replaces original cast member Josh Stamberg who played his final performance on 5 Apr 2009. Stamberg has left the production due to a prior commitment.

Distracted now stars Cynthia Nixon as 'Mama,' the show also features Peter Benson (Dr. Broder, Dr. Karnes, Dr. Jinks), Shana Dowdeswell (Natalie), Lisa Emery (Vera), Natalie Gold (Dr. Zavala, Waitress, Carolyn), Matthew Gumley (Jesse), Mimi Lieber (Sherry), Aleta Mitchell (Mrs. Holly, Dr. Waller, Nurse) and Rick Holmes (Dad).

Distracted, opened at the Laura Pels Theatre on 4 Mar 2009, following previews from 7 Feb 2009. The show, which was originally scheduled to close on 3 May 2009, has been extrended twice, and will now end its run on 17 May 2009.

Distracted: a contemporary American mom reaches out to teachers, psychotherapists, and neighbors to figure out if Attention Deficit Disorder is the root of her son�s problems.

The design team includes Mark Wendland (Sets), Michael Krass (Costumes), Jane Cox (Lights), David Van Tieghem (Original Music & Sound) and Tal Yarden (Projections).

Distracted had its world premiere in March 2007 at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.
