'Dear Maudie' at the 78th Street Theatre Lab
Michele Willens presents her one-act play Dear Maudie, at the 78th Street Theatre Lab from the 30 Oct - 4 Dec 2005.
Dear Maudie tells the story of two girls who meet in the fourth grade and make a pledge to correspond with one another until they are thirteen or one of us gets a pimple. In the tradition of Judy Blumes Are You There God? Its Me, Margaret the play takes the girls through the pain of growing up and the heartbreak of breaking up with a friend.
Best selling childrens book author Judith Viorst said, I love this play. It is a funny, touching and true exploration of two wonderfully realized young girls and their friends as they navigate their baffled way to the brink of adolescence. Michele Willens thoroughly understands their kindnesses and cruelties, their confusions and contradictions, their yearnings and anxieties and she writes about it all with great insight and tenderness.
The cast for Dear Maudie, directed by Jamibeth Margolis, features: Danielle Carlacci, Allison Brustofski, Kelsey Merritt, Kristen Piacentile, Leanne Cabrera, Hunter Gallagher, Tommy McKiernan, Michael Jacobs and Staci Rudnitsky.
