The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing have officially confirmed that the biggest night in Broadway's theatre calendar, the 72nd Annual Tony Awards, will take place on Sunday, June 10, 2017 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Continuing the tradition, CBS will broadcast the ceremony live, as it has done since 1978. CBS has now extended its contract with the Tony Awards through to 2026.

Heather Hitchens, President of the American Theatre Wing and Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League released the following joint statement:

"CBS has been an amazing and collaborative partner in bringing the live arts we honor, to their viewers. Their continued support has helped make the Tony Awards an acclaimed television event and has allowed us to bring Broadway to homes all over America."

Furthermore the nominations for next year's Tony Awrds will be announced on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. All Broadway productions in the 2017-2018 season, who officially open on or before the eligibility cut-off date of Thursday, April 26, 2018 (and meet all other requirements) can be considered for nominations.
