The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing have officially confirmed that the biggest night in Broadway's theatre calendar, the 71st Annual Tony Awards, will take place on Sunday, 11 June 2017 in New York City. Continuing the tradition, CBS will broadcast the ceremony live, as it has done since 1978. A location for the awards ceremony will be named at a later date. The usual venue for the Tonys - Radio City Music Hall - was unavailable this year, which meant that the awards were moved to the Beacon Theatre.

Furthermore the nominations for next year's Tony Awrds will be announced on Tuesday, 2 May 2017. All Broadway productions in the 2016-2017 season, who officially open on or before the eligibility cut-off date of Thursday, 27 April 2017 (and meet all other requirements) can be considered for nominations.

The host of next year's ceremony will be announced at a later date, whilst Tony winner and this year's host James Corden is already rumoured to be in the running.
