Danny Burstein to star in Atlantic's Describe the Night

The Atlantic Theater Company has announced casting for the New York premiere of Rajiv Joseph's Describe The Night, directed by Giovanna Sardelli, which begins previews at the Linda Gross Theater on November 10, 2017, before an official opening on December 5 and a limited engagement through to December 24, 2017.

Six-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein will lead the cast as Isaac Babel, alongside Tina Benko (as Yevgenia), Nadia Bowers (as Mariya, Mrs. Petrovna), Rebecca Naomi Jones (as Urzula), Max Gordon Moore (as Vova), and Stephen Stocking (as Felix).

Synopsis: "In 1920, the Russian writer Isaac Babel wanders the countryside with the Red Cavalry. Seventy years later, a mysterious KGB agent spies on a woman in Dresden and falls in love. In 2010, an aircraft carrying most of the Polish government crashes in the Russian city of Smolensk. Set in Russia over the course of 80 years, this epic new play traces the stories of seven men and women connected by history, myth and conspiracy theories."

The creative team behind Describe The Night features scenic design by Tim Mackabee, costume design by Amy Clark, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, sound design and original music by Daniel Kluger.

The play's world premiere was staged at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas.

Danny Burstein has earned Tony nominations for his performances in 'Fiddler on the Roof' (2016), 'Cabaret' (2014), 'Golden Boy' (2013), 'Follies' (2012), 'South Pacific' (2008), and 'The Drowsy Chaperone' (2006). His other Broadway credits include 'The Snow Geese,' 'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,' 'A Class Act,' 'Titanic,' 'Company,' 'The Flowering Peach,' 'Three Men on a Horse,' 'Saint Joan,' 'The Seagull,' and 'A Little Hotel on the Side.' He last appeared off-Broadway in Roundabout Theatre Company's production of 'Talley's Folly' in 2013.
