Dan Butler joins cast, replacing Larry Pine


New York Theatre Workshop have announced that Dan Butler has joined the cast of Beast, written by Michael Weller and directed by Jo Bonney. Beast opens at the New York Theatre Workshop on 15 Sep 2008, following previews from 29 Aug and running through to 12 Oct 2008.

Butler replaces Larry Pine in the roles of the Commander-in-Chief, 'GW,' and 'Captain Adler.' Pine recently suffered from a detached retina and has been advised by his doctor that he needs time to recuperate from the injury.

Beast: Two Iraqi War veterans - badly mutilated but as fiercely patriotic as ever�make their way home from a military hospital in Germany. Their marauding adventure across America takes them to Crawford, Texas, where they meet up with their Commander-in-Chief and offer a surefire solution to all his problems.

Directed by Jo Bonney, Beast also features Raul Aranas, Jeremy Bobb, Lisa Joyce, Logan Marshall-Green, Eileen Rivera and Corey Stoll.

The creative team includes Eugene Lee (sets), Colleen Werthmann (costumes), David Lander (lighting) and David Van Tieghem (sound).
