Cyrano de Bergerac: complete cast announced



The complete cast has been announced for the Broadway revival of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac, translated and adapted by Anthony Burgess, and directed by David Leveaux.

Joining the previously announced Kevin Kline as 'Cyrano,' Jennifer Garner as 'Roxane' and Daniel Sunjatato as 'Christian,' will be Euan Morton as 'Ligniere,' Max Baker as 'Ragueneau' and Chris Sarandon as 'Comte de Guiche.'

Euan Morton made his Broadway debut playing Boy George, in Boy George's musical 'Taboo' (2003) for which he was nominated for a 2004 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Off-Broadway he recently played 'Robin' in the Roundabout's production of 'Howard Katz' (2007).

Max Baker his making his Broadway debut in the play, he also was a mamber of the cast for the Roundabout's production of 'Howard Katz' (2007), in which he played 'Bern'.

Chris Sarandon's Broadway credits include 'The Rothschilds' (1970), 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' - musical (1971), 'Censored Scenes From King Kong' (1980), 'Nick & Nora' (1991) and 'The Light in the Piazza' (2005).

The show will also feature John Douglas Thompson as 'Le Bret', Concetta Tomei as Roxane's 'Duenna', Tom Bloom as 'Montfleury', Peter Jay Fernandez as 'Carbon de Castel-Jaloux', MacIntyre Dixon as 'Jodelet' and Carman Lacivita as 'Vicomte de Valvert'.

The play will have a strictly limited 10-week engagement at the Richard Rodgers Theater, where it will open on 1 Nov 2007, following previews from 12 Oct and run through to 23 Dec 2007.

The soulful poet/philosopher and brilliant swordsman Cyrano de Bergerac, a cadet in the French Army, falls for the beautiful, strong-willed Roxane, but is too ashamed of his large nose to tell her. Instead, when he learns that she loves the handsome Christian de Neuvillette, his dim-witted comrade, he pens poetry and love letters to Roxane on Christian's behalf. After many years, the truth is revealed. Will loveor beauty conquer all?

The ensemble for Cyrano de Bergerac features Nance Williamson, Piter Marek, Baylen Thomas, Daniel Stewart Sherman, Keith Eric Chappelle, Thomas Schall, Davis Duffield, Alexander Sovronsky, Lucas Papaelias, Fred Rose, Stephen Balantzian, Amefika El-Amin, Ginifer King, Kate Guyton and Leenya Rideout.

Cyrano de Bergerac was last revied on Broadway at the George Gershwin Theatre in 1984. The play was directed by Terry Hands, and starred Derek Jacobi as Cyrano and Sinéad Cusack as Roxanne.
