Circle Mirror Transformation returns 15 Dec

Following an acclaimed original sold-out run, Playwrights Horizons announce a limited return engagement of the company's recent World Premiere production of Circle Mirror Transformation, the new play by Annie Baker.

Directed by Sam Gold, the original engagement opened 13 Oct 2009 and was extended twice through to 21 Nov 2010. The return limited engagement will begin performances 15 Dec 2009 at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater and will run through to 17 Jan 2010.

The comedy opened to mostly positive reviews: "flat out fabulous. Period." (newyorktheatreguide.com); "absorbing, unblinking and sharply funny" (NY Times); "bold and engrossing storytelling" (Newsday); "humorous and heartbreaking" (AP); "a beguiling little play" (Variety).

Circle Mirror Transformation original five member cast: Reed Birney (Schultz), Peter Friedman (James), Deirdre O'Connell (Marty), Tracee Chimo (Lauren) and Heidi Schreck (Theresa) will all return for the engagement.

Circle Mirror Transformation: When four lost New Englanders enrolled in Marty's community center drama class experiment with harmless games, hearts are quietly torn apart and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won.

The production features scenic and costume design by David Zinn, lighting design by Mark Barton and sound design by Leah Gelpe. Production Stage Manager is Alaina Taylor.
