Chicago: Colman Domingo & John O'Hurley to play Billy Flynn

The Broadway musical Chicago, is to welcome two actors to play the role of 'Billy Flynn' during the summer - Colman Domingo ('Passing Strange,' 'The Scottsboro Boys') and John O'Hurley ("Dancing with the Stars," 'Monty Python's Spamalot').

First up is Obie, Lucille Lortel and GLAAD Award winner Colman Domingo, who will play Billy Flynn for a five-week limited engagement beginning 14 Jun 2010.

Domingo recently starred in Kander and Ebb's acclaimed musical 'The Scottsboro Boys' and his self-penned 'A Boy and His Soul,' both at the Vineyard Theater. This fall, he will reprise his role in 'The Scottsboro Boys' at the Guthrie Theatre and on Broadway.

He has also been seen on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical 'Passing Strange,' which, under the direction of Spike Lee, was recorded live for feature film release.

On television his credits include Rosie O'Donnell's Logo/MTV series, "The Big Gay Sketch Show." His film credits include "Miracle at St. Ana," "King of the Bingo Game," "Freedomland," "Kung Phooey," "Around the Fire" and "True Crime."

Domingo will appear as 'Billy Flynn' through to 18 Jul 2010.

Beginning 20 Jul 2010, the musical will welcome back John O'Hurley as 'Billy Flynn' for a six-week return engagement throughto 29 Aug 2010.

One of People magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive," John O'Hurley has become one of television's busiest and most versatile actors, show hosts, advertising heroes and feature film stars. The award-winning actor is best known as 'J. Peterman' on "Seinfeld," which is now the #1 syndicated series in 85 countries throughout the world.

O'Hurley his known to fans of the ABC series "Dancing with the Stars," coming second in the show's first season broadcast in 2005. He can also be seen weekly as the host of the popular syndicated game show "Family Feud."

O'Hurley first appeared on Broadway as 'Billy Flynn' in 2006 and has reprised that role with the National Touring company of Chicago in recent years. He also starred as 'King Arthur' in the Las Vegas production of 'Monty Python's Spamalot.'

Chicago currently stars Terra C. MacLeod (Velma Kelly), Ruthie Henshal (Roxie), Matthew Settle (Billy Flynn), Terri White (Mama Morton), Ray Bokhour (Amos Hart) and R. Lowe (Mary Sunshine).

Now celebrating thirteen years on the Great White Way, Chicago is the second longest-running production currently playing on Broadway, as well as Broadway's longest-running musical revival.

The show has been playing on Broadway since 14 Nov 1996, it moved to the Ambassador Theatre on the 29 Jan 2003.

Chicago follows not your usual housewife, Roxie Hart, who gains dubious notoriety when she kills her boyfriend, invents her defence and manipulates everyone from her trustworthy husband to the fickle media and the unsuspecting public. The show features the well known songs, 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Mr. Cellophane'.

Chicago has music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, Book by Bob Fosse & Fred Ebb.

The musical is directed by Walter Bobbie, with choreography by Ann Reinking, scene design by John Lee Beatty, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Scott Lehrer.

Chicago is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording. It is the eighth longest-running production in Broadway history, as well as Broadway's longest-running musical revival.
