Celia extends its run at New World Stages by two months


The musical Celia, by Carmen Rivera and Candido Tirado, extends its run at New World Stages / Stage 2 through to 27 Jan 2008.

The show opened at New World Stages on 26 Sep 2007, following previews from 28 Aug, for a run that was originally scheduled to end on 16 Nov 2007.

Celia takes the audience on a musical journey through the life and music of singer Celia Cruz from her humble beginnings in Cuba to international stardom. Featuring most of Celia�s greatest hits and told through the eyes of Pedro Knight, Celia�s husband, audiences will experience the Celia that few people knew but millions loved.

Directed by Jaime Azpilicueta and choreographed by Maria Torres, Celia features Xiomara Laugart S�nchez, Modesto Lac�n, Pedro Cap�, Sunilda Caraballo, Rogelio Douglas Jr., Lai-Si Fern�ndez, Anissa Gathers, Wilson Mendieta, Elvis Nolasco y Joselyn Reyes.

The creative team comprises Narelle Sissons (sets), Haydee Morales (costumes), Sarah Sidman (lighting) and Bernard Fox sound).
