New York Theatre Workshop has announced that Tony & Emmy Award nominee Carrie Coon will star in the title role of the upcoming New York premiere of Mary Jane, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Amy Herzog and directed by Anne Kauffman.

Previews begin on September 6, 2017 at New York Theatre Workshop, before an official opening on September 25 and a limited engagement through to October 15, 2017.

Joining Ms. Coon in the cast will be Liza Colón-Zayas (as Sherrie/Dr. Toros), Danaya Esperanza (as Amelia/Kat), Susan Pourfar (as Brianne/Chaya) and Brenda Wehle (as Ruthie/Tenkei).

Synopsis: "During a rain-drenched summer in New York City, an indefatigable single mother navigates the mundane, shattering and sublime aspects of caring for a chronically sick child."

The creative team behind Mary Jane features scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, and sound design by Leah Gelpe.

Carrie Coon received a Tony Award nomination in 2013 for her Broadway debut performance as Honey in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' She also previously appeared off-Broadway in the Playwrights Horizons production of 'Placebo' in 2015. She is perhaps best known for her TV role as Gloria Bungle in "Fargo," for which she has received a 2017 Emmy Award nomination, as well as her roles in "The Leftovers" and "Gone Girl."
