Carrie Coon joins Placebo at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons have announced that Carrie Coon will join the cast for their upcoming production of Placebo by Obie Award winner Melissa James Gibson at their Main Stage theatre from 20 February to 5 April 2015, with an official opening on 16 March 2015.

She will join the previously announced cast members, which includes Kristen Connolly, William Jackson Harper, Alex Hurt and Florencia Lozano.

"A minty green pill - medication or sugar? Louise (Kristen Connolly) is working on a placebo-controlled study of a new female arousal drug. As her work in the lab navigates the blurry lines between perception and deception, more and more these same questions pertain to her life at home."

Directed by Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin, the production will feature scenic and costume designs by David Zinn, lighting design by Matt Frey and sound design by Ryan Rumery.

Carrie Coon will be making her Playwrights Horizons debut. Her Broadway credits include 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?', for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Her other theatre credits include 'Three Sisters', 'The March', and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' for the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, 'The Real Thing' for the Writers' Theatre and 'Magnolia' for the Goodman Theatre. Her film credits include 'Gone Girl'.

Tickets for Placebo will go on sale to the general public starting the week of 19 January 2015.
