Buyer & Cellar: Christopher J. Hanke begins performances

Christopher J. Hanke assumes the starring role of 'Alex' from 18 Mar 2014 in Jonathan Tolins comedy Buyer & Cellar, directed by Stephen Brackett, playing at the Barrow Street Theatre.

Hanke takes over the role from original cast member Michael Urie who is leaving the Off-Broadway production to star in the show's first national tour which launches at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place on the 06 May 2014.

Hanke has appeared on Broadway in 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' 'Cry-Baby,' 'In My Life' and 'Rent.' His TV credits include "Big Love" and "Three Rivers."

Buyer & Cellar opened 03 Apr 2013 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, where it played through to 12 May 2013. It then transferred to its current home at the Barrow Street Theatre where it opened on 24 Jun 2013.

Buyer & Cellar: Alex More has a story to tell. A struggling actor in L.A., Alex takes a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar. One day, the Lady Herself comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? Buyer & Cellar is a comedy about the price of fame, the cost of things, and the oddest of odd jobs.

The show features set design by Andrew Boyce, costumes by Jessica Pabst, lighting by Eric Southern and sound by Stowe Nelson.
