Burn The Floor: Dance show to play at the Longacre

The dance show Burn the Floor is to have its Broadway premiere at the Longacre Theatre where it will play a limited engagement from 25 Jul - 18 Oct 2009.

Publicity for the Euorpean Tour of Burn the Floor said the show "brings an unparalleled blend of ballroom and Latin dance, with dances such as the Quickstep, the Paso Doble, the Swing, Waltz and Jive. From the roaring twenties at Harlems Savoy Club in New York, where the Lindy, the Foxtrot and the Charleston were born, to the sultry, sweltering corners of South America, territory of the Cha-Cha, the Rumba, the Mambo and the Salsa...

Burn the Floor is created and choreographed by Jason Gilkison who is connected to the shows 'So You Think You Can Dance' (both the US and the Australian versions) and 'Superstars of Dance' as the captain of the Australian team.

Burn the Floor was first performed at Sir Elton Johns 50th birthday celebrations at the Hammersmith Palais Ballroom, London in 1997, since then the production has gone on to be a worldwide success with tours in many countries including Austrailia, Canada, Japan and across Europe. It has been seen by 30 million people in 30 countries.

Burn the Floor will feature a cast of around 20 dancers, and going by previous productions it will star champion ballroom and latin American dancers.

There has been no official announcement, and though Burn the Floor is listed with telecharge there is no date as to when tickets will go on sale.
