Buffalo Gal extends its run by two weeks

Primary Stages has announced a two-week extension for the first production of the their 24th season, the New York premiere of Buffalo Gal, by A.R. Gurney.

Performances began 22 Jul 2008 at 59E59's Theater A for a limited engagement that was originally scheduled to end 30 Aug 2008 but will now conclude 13 Sep 2008. Opening night is 5 Aug 2008.

Buffalo Gal centers around Amanda, a once successful television personality whose star is now fading. Life imitates art as she returns to her hometown of Buffalo to star in Chekovs The Cherry Orchard. Just as she is connecting with her roots both on stage and off she is called back to Hollywood for a role that could recharge her career. Will the love of theater be enough to keep her in Buffalo?

Directed by Mark Lamos, Buffalo Gal features Mark Blum (Dan), Carmen M. Herlihyc (Debbie), Jennifer Regan (Jackie), Susan Sullivan (Amanda), James Waterston (Roy) and Dathan B. Williams (James).

The creative team includes Andrew Jackness (sets), Candice Donnelly (costumes), Mary Louise Geiger (lighting) and John Gromada (sound).

Primary Stages continues its 24th season with A Body of Water by Lee Blessing (30 Sep - 9 Nov 2008) with direction by Maria Mileaf. The second half of the 2008-2009 season kicks off with Shipwrecked! An Entertainment The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told By Himself) by Donald Margulies (27 Jan - 7 Mar 2009). The 24th season concludes with the world premiere of a new comedy Chasing Manet by Tina Howe (24 Mar - 2 May 2009), featuring Tony Award-Winner Jane Alexander.
