Typically, Broadway Backwards sees stars performing musical theatre songs that typically go against their casting bracket. For this year, Broadway Backwards will take place online, dedicated to the effects of Covid-19 on the LGBTQ community, streaming on March 30.

New songs will be merged with performances from previous years in a Broadway Backwards extravaganza. Jay Armstrong will star as an isolated New Yorker who is guided by a late night television host, played by Jenn Collella.

The event's opening number will feature Tony Award winners Stephanie J. Block and Lea Salonga alongside Deborah Cox. There'll also be performances from Hadestown's Robin De Jesús, American Buffalo's Darren Criss, as well as Amy Adams, Matt Bomer, Ariana DeBose, Cynthia Erivo, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Joshua Henry, James Monroe Iglehart, Cherry Jones, Jessie Mueller, Kelli O'Hara, Karen Olivo and Jim Parsons.

Since the first Broadway Backwards concert in 2006, the event has raised over $5 million for Broadway Cares and the LGBT Community Center. The 2020 event was cancelled days before, but the 2021 event looks towards a hopeful future.

Broadway Backwards is available to watch on March 30. For more information, read here
