Brandon J. Dirden joins Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter-led 'Waiting for Godot' on Broadway
Casting has been completed for the revival of Samuel Beckett's drama, reuniting the stars of Bill & Ted franchise under the direction of Tony nominee Jamie Lloyd.
Complete casting has been set for Waiting for Godot on Broadway, starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Performances will run from September 13 to January 4, with an opening night of September 28 at the Hudson Theatre.
As previously announced, Reeves will star as Estragon, Winter as Vladimir, and Michael Patrick Thornton as Lucky. Newly joining the cast as Pozzo is Obie and Theatre World Award winner Brandon J. Dirden, known for starring in Tony Award-winning productions of Take Me Out, Skeleton Crew, All The Way, and Jitney on Broadway, as well as for his screen role as Agent Dennis Aderholt in The Americans.
Completing the Waiting for Godot Broadway cast are Zaynn Arora and Eric Williams, sharing the role of A Boy, and understudies Jesse Aaronson and Franklin Bongjio.
The complete creative team, led by Tony Award-nominated director Jamie Lloyd (Sunset Boulevard, A Doll's House on Broadway), includes set and costume designer Soutra Gilmour, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designers Ben and Max Ringham, and hair and makeup designer Cheryl Thomas.
Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot is a classic existentialist drama centered on the big conversations between two men as they await the title character's arrival. The show has been named among the greatest of the 20th century and been produced all over the world in numerous languages since its 1953 world premiere.
