
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter to star in 'Waiting for Godot' on Broadway in 2025
Jamie Lloyd will direct this new production. His Olivier Award-winning revival of Sunset Boulevard opens on Broadway this fall, starring Nicole Scherzinger.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will star in a new production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot on Broadway, directed by Jamie Lloyd. The show will begin performances on September 13 ahead of a September 28 opening at the Hudson Theatre.
Reeves (John Wick, The Matrix) will make his Broadway debut as Estragon and Winter (Adulthood, The King & I) will play Vladimir in Beckett's avant-garde two-hander, which encourages audiences to reflect on the meaning of life and their own existence. The two actors are known for co-starring in the Bill & Ted film trilogy.
Director Jamie Lloyd said in a statement, “It is a real honor to be collaborating with the brilliant Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter on Samuel Beckett’s sublime masterpiece — one of the greatest plays of all time.”
In a joint statement, Reeves and Winter said, “We’re incredibly excited to be on stage together and work with the great Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays.”
Lloyd currently directs his Olivier Award-winning production of Sunset Boulevard on Broadway, starring Nicole Scherzinger.
