'Big Band Broadway:' Debbie Gravitte & the RK big band at Hudson Theatre

THe Hudson Theatre presents Big Band Broadway: Debbie Gravitte and the Russ Kassoff big band in a theatrical concert performance at the newly restored 101 year old Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel, on the 9, 16 & 23 May 2005

Debbie Gravitte and the Russ Kassoff Big Band combines the intricate and tantalizing sound of the Big Band with timeless classics from Broadway and the Great American Song Book. This evening captures the vast contibutions by Broadway composers and lyicists from the Big Band Era through today's modern classics. Each of the three concerts will also feature a surprise guest star.

Debbie Gravitte, won a Tony Award with her performance in Jerome Robbin�s 'Broadway.' She made her Broadway debut in the original cast of 'They're Playing Our Song', and went on to appear in 'Perfectly Frank', 'Blues In The Night', 'Ain't Broadway Grand', 'Zorba with Anthony Quinn', 'Les Miserables', and 'Chicago'.

Miss Gravitte is a recognised concert singer having sung with The National Symphony and The Cincinnati Pops. Overseas, she has appeared with the London, Aalborg, and Birmingham Symphony Orchestras, Stockholm Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra. She has also released two albums, The Alan Menken Album and The MGM Album.

The Big Band Broadway big band is headed by 'Russ Kassoff', an accomplished jazz pianist, conductor, composer, orchestrator and arranger. Kassoff has toured extensively with legends such as Frank Sinatra from 1980 � 1991; and Liza Minnelli from 1982 � 2001.

Big Band Broadway heralds the unveiling of the 101-year-old Hudson Theatre�s restored architectural wonders. Before commencing the restoration process, the hotel conducted historical and architectural research on the theatre, leading to the discovery of Tiffany glass mosaics hidden under a cover of paint and plaster.
