Thu 9 Oct 2003 "Beyond Recognition" by John Petrick at Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex 17 Oct 2003 Abingdon Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of Beyond Recognition, by John Petrick , in the Mainstage Theatre, Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (Off Broadway) from 17 Oct to 9 Nov 2003. (Press opening on Thursday, 23 October). Directed by Kate Bushmann, the play features Christopher Burns , Michael Goduti, David Valcin, Grant James Vargas Set design by Michael Schweikardt, lighting by David Castaneda with costumes by Ingrid Maurer. Follows the journey of a therapist as he suddenly recalls the circumstances of his brutal and notorious Central Park beating. Though New Yorkers and his lover cheer on his miraculous survival, the memory of the violent event now threatens everything - including his own sense of self. Founded in 1993, Abingdon Theatre Company develops and produces new plays by American writers (www.abingdon-nyc.org). ***On Monday, November 3, Abingdon Theatre Company will honor legendary actress-director-playwright June Havoc, with the naming of the Mainstage Theatre as the June Havoc Theatre at their 36th Street home, Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex. Miss Havoc will be in attendance for the event, beginning at 6:30 PM with a champagne reception, to be followed at 7:00 PM by a celebrity Gala Tribute in the theatre, and concluding with dinner.
