Throughout the course of a chaotic evening Delia and Ernest's attempt to celebrate their anniversary ends up with pilchards in the bed and giving marriage guidance to daughter-in-law Susannah. Nick is bedridden with a bad back, leaving wife Jan to go alone to Malcolm and Kate's housewarming - where upstairs she runs into old flame Trevor - in the middle of a very public fight with his wife....Susannah.
