'Beast On The Moon' to close on the 24 Jul 2005

The Off-Broadway production of Richard Kalinoski's Beast on the Moon will play its final performance at this Sunday's matinee, 24 Jul 2005. The play had been booking to the 4 Sep 2005. The play will have played 120 performances over the course of its 15-week run.

Directed by Larry Moss, the cast currently features Omar Metwally (who has returned from his previously announced leave of absence), Lena Georgas, Frank Biancamano and Louis Anthony Dilan.

During a leave of absence by Omar Metwally for filming, one of the shows producers - David Grillo, has stepped into his shows. All through Omar Metwally recently returned to the show for a few performances, it is producer David Grillo who will play in the final cast.

Beast on the Moon tells the story of a young couple, survivors of the Armenian Genocide, as they embark on marriage and a new life in America in the years following the Great War.

Over the last 12 years, Beast on the Moon has played to audiences around the world with productions in 17 different countries, translated into 12 different languages and having received more than 40 significant awards.

Beast on the Moon's New York premiere marks the 90th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Perhaps because of its popular and critical success, the Turkish federal government has tried to suppress the play by harassing artists and administrators. On two occasions they were successful when scheduled productions in Northern California and Southern Germany were cancelled.
