Atlantic Theater Company announces two world premieres for 2023-24 season

The Off-Broadway theatre will present a world-premiere play by Annie Baker and a world-premiere musical by Marco Ramirez as part of its season programming.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced the first two productions of its 2023-24 season, both world premieres.

The season will begin with the world premiere of Annie Baker’s Infinite Life, a co-production with National Theatre. The play follows five women in northern California who explore the complexities of desire and suffering. James Macdonald will direct the production, which runs from August 18 to October 8.

Infinite Life will feature sets by dots, costumes by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting by Isabella Byrd, sound by Bray Poor, and props by Noah Mease. Laura Smith will serve as production stage manager.

Next up will be the world-premiere musical Buena Vista Social Club by Marco Ramirez. The musical is inspired by the same-named Grammy-winning 1997 album and will feature legendary artists of Cuba’s golden age. Buena Vista Social Club, directed by Saheem Ali, will run from November 17 to December 31.

The production will feature choreography by Patricia Delgado and Justin Peck, sets by Arnulfo Maldonado, costumes by Dede Ayite, lighting by Bradley King, sound by Jonathan Deans, and projections by Hannah Waseleski. Dean Sharenow will serve as the music supervisor, Marco Paguia as the music director, and David Yazbek will lead the production’s music team.

The remaining shows in Atlantic Theater Company's season will be announced at a later date.
