The Atlantic Theater Company has announced casting for its upcoming "Atlantic For Kids" New York premiere of Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical, which will play the Linda Gross Theater from September 16 to October 8, 2017. The musical is an original concept by Douglas Lyons and features a book by Melvin Tunstall III, music by Greg Borowsky & Douglas Lyons, and lyrics by Douglas Lyons.

The ensemble cast includes Latoya Edwards (as Lily Polkadot), Chris Renalds (as Sky Square), Brooke Sweeney (as Penelope Square) and Stephanie Toups (as Ms. Square/Mama Square).

Synopsis: "Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the 'Squares Only' small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying, to segregated drinking fountains, Lily's quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polka dot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship. Inspired by the events of The Little Rock 9, Polkadots serves as a colorful history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts."

Directed by Tamilla Woodard, the creative team behind Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical features musical direction by Ted Arthur, orchestrations by Ethan Pakchar, choreography by Shea Sullivan, scenic design by Ryan Howell, costume design by Nicole Slaven, lighting design by Amith A. Chandrashaker, wig & make-up design by Brian Strumwasser.

Performances take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30am.
