Aristocrats extends its run by three weeks


The Irish Repertory Theater has extended its run of Brian Friel's Aristocrats by three weeks.

The play opened at the Irish Repertory Theater on 25 Jan 2009, following previews from 16 Jan, for a limited engagement that was originally scheduled to end on 8 Mar 2009, but will now play through to 29 Mar 2009.

The play opened to mostly excellent reviews: "A first-rate revival." (NY Times); "Admirable if uneven revival." (Back Stage); "Meticulous revival, helmer... Charlotte Moore assembles a dream cast."(Variety)

Aristocrats: The story of a once powerful and aristocratic family in its days of decline. Dark memories invade the family gathered for the wedding of the youngest sister as the family tries to escape the seriousness of their situation and the difficult life that awaits each of them as they follow separate paths.

Directed by Charlotte Moore, Aristocrats features Orlagh Cassidy, Rufus Collins, Sean Gormley, Lynn Hawley, John Keating, Laura Odeh, Ciar�n O'Reilly, and Geddeth Smith.

The creative team features set design by James Morgan, costumes by Linda Fisher, lighting by Brian Nasson and sound by Zachary Williamson.
