Almost an Evening: Ethan Coens play to transfer to Bleecker Street Theatre after sold out run at Atlantic Theater's Stage 2

Atlantic Theater Companys critically acclaimed world premiere production of Academy Award - winning film maker Ethan Coens Almost an Evening, will transfer to an Off-Broadway run at The Bleecker Street Theatre. Previews will begin 20 Mar, for a limited engagement running through to 1 Jun 2008.

In Ethan Coens Almost an Evening, three short plays unsuccessfully tackle important questions. In Waiting, someone waits somewhere for quite some time. In Four Benches, a voyage to self-discovery takes a British intelligence agent to steam baths in New York and Texas, and to park benches in the U.S. and U.K. In Debate, cosmic questions are taken up. Not much is learned.

Almost an Evening, directed by Atlantic artistic director Neil Pepe, sold out before previews began 9 Jan 2008, opened on 22 Jan, and played a limited engagement through to 10 Feb 2008 Off-Broadway at Atlantic Stage 2.

The show opened to excellent reviews : Tasty, bite-sized comedies." (New York Times); "Tantalizing! First-rate performers. (Associated Press); "Razor-sharp performances. Very funny! (New York Daily News); "Excellent! A smart diversion that delivers." (Star-Ledger) and "Seriously hilarious! As a playwright, Coen is a fresh and original voice." (Journal News.)

The Atlantic Stage 2 engagement of Almost an Evening featured Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), Jonathan Cake (Cymbeline), J.R. Horne, Jordan Lage, Mark Linn-Baker, Elizabeth Marvel, Mary McCann, Del Pentecost and Joey Slotnick.

Casting for The Bleecker Street Theatre transfer will be announced shortly. It is being rumored that F. Murray Abraham and Mark-Linn Baker will one again star in the production, but this has still to be confirmed.
