Synopsis: "Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can't control, monsters on his trail, and he is on a quest to find Zeus' lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods. Normal is a myth when you're a demigod."

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is presented off-Broadway by Theatreworks NYC in arrangement with Rick Riordan and the Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency.

Theatreworks USA previously produced a one-hour musical adaptation of the novel with a smaller cast for a free theatre series aimed at younger theatregoers, which also then toured the country. This updated version features a brand new score, a larger cast, an expanded script (including a second act) and a live band.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians are a series of five fictional novels based on mythological adventures by Rick Riordan - "The Lightning Thief" (2005), "The Sea of Monsters" (2006), "The Titan's Curse" (2007), "The Battle of the Labyrinth" (2008), and "The Last Olympian" (2009). The books have sold over 45 million copies worldwide and have also landed two Hollywood movie adaptations - "The Lightning Thief" (2010) and "The Sea of Monsters" (2013).

Chris McCarrell was recently seen as Marius in the latest Broadway revival of 'Les Misérables.' Other theatre credits include 'Summer of '42,' 'Next to Normal,' 'Sweeney Todd,' and 'Pippin.' He has also appeared on TV's "The OA" and as Nibs in "Peter Pan Live."
