'Act Naturally' at the Manhattan Theatre Source

Max Blaire presents Scott Katzman's comedy Act Naturally, directed by Christopher Maring, at the Manhattan Theatre Source from the 6 - 8 Mar 2005

Act Naturally is an original play that tells the story of an actors quest for a seemingly unattainable Equity card. In a moment of desperation, he agrees to be the understudy in a One-Man-Show tribute to Ringo Starr, with the understanding that he will get his card but will never be required to actually perform. Accordingly, he doesnt bother to read the script, see the show or try on his costume. Not surprisingly, he is called and although grossly unprepared, he is not willing to sacrifice the equity card that is finally within his grasp. So he does what any self-respecting actor desperate for his equity card would do: he wings it. In the span of 90 minutes, he breathes life into a host of characters and unwittingly uses his life as art, managing not only to connect with his past, but to alter the course of three intersecting lives.

The cast for Act Naturally includes Darron Cardosa, Michelle Clarke, Elizabeth Elliot, Lissette Espaillat, Scott Katzman, Marlene OHaire, Nicholas Viselli.

Scott Katzman (Playwright) knows his subject well and has played such parts as Eddie in 'Hurlyburly', George in 'Same Time Next Year', and Jim Curry in 'The Rainmaker', along with appearing on Sex and the City and Saturday Night Live.

Christopher Maring (Director) credits include 'The Marketing Plan' (Emerging Artists Theater) 'AndAndAnd' (The Producers Club) and 'The Maids' (John Houseman Studio Theater). Chris is an Artistic Associate at Prospect Theater Company and a Member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.

Max Blaire (Producer) credits include 'Free Donuts' (Developing Artists Theater Company) and documentary 'The Search For Dutot'.
